Welcome to the web site of the Essex NDP Federal and Provincial Associations
2011 was a very good year for our party. At the federal level, under the inspired leadership of Jack Layton, the party managed to transform the Canadian political scene with its demolition of the BQ party. It is now the task of all party members to see that those gains in Quebec do not slip away.
One way each one of you can do that is to take an active role in the current leadership campaign and on 24 March to vote for the person you believe can best carry on the work successfully begun by Jack Layton. To do that, you must be a registered member by 18 February 2012. If your membership has lapsed or you want to sign up, get in touch with the Essex Association now.
2011 was also a good year for the provincial party which made significant gains under its new leader, Andrea Horwath and is a strong position in the Provincial Assembly. However, we can’t overlook the fact that we have a minority government and no one can really predict when the next election will be called.
What the members in Essex will remember most about the provincial election is that Taras Natyshak, with the support of over 300 volunteers, was elected as the MPP for Essex. In the next provincial election, whenever that will be, we want to see 500 volunteers working on his behalf.
The federal and provincial associations are determined to create a really strong and active organization (more about that at another time) but to do that we need your support. If you are interested in helping out the association — please get in touch with us. If you receive a phone call asking you to become a member, to make a donation, or to volunteer your time — I hope that you will be able to agree.
